Rochester and Kelsey s Landing
Maplewood Rose Garden, above the former Kelsey s Landing, was the meeting spot for escaping slaves. Boats would pick up passengers on the Underground Railroad generally in this spot that was once Kelsey s Landing and head north up the Genesee River to Lake Ontario to then go to Canada or points west of Rochester.

Terminus Pultneyville
Pultneyville and Williamson were some of the last stops in the area on the Underground Railroad. A map of Pultneyville in the mid 1800s shows a pier jutting out into Lake Ontario. This pier was used by local residents, in particular Capt. Horatio N. Throop, to ferry people on the Underground Railroad to Canada or other places where they could escape their former lives as slav
