Although 5th Congressional District candidate Julia Letlow spent most of Tuesday introducing herself to key St. Landry Parish elected officials, she emphasized that it’s not her first time experiencing the political campaign circuit. Just four months after the sudden death of husband Luke Letlow, elected in a December runoff to represent the geographically extensive 5th District, Julia Letlow was shaking hands and speaking with supporters at two separate events in Opelousas in an effort to capture her husband’s vacated seat. “I certainly have to tip my hat to her. She is definitely one of the most courageous women that I have ever met,” said St. Landry Parish Council member Harold Taylor. “To pick up so soon after such a tragedy and losing a husband suddenly, here (Julia Letlow) is here and out campaigning.
