May 27—CHEYENNE — Born into a ranching family in 1921 in Torrington, Nona Zimmerman Holmes is no stranger to hard work. It's a trait she shared with her husband, Harold Holmes, whom she fell in love with during high school in Cheyenne, and a mindset she helped instill in their children. "They were both farm kids, and farm kids really know how to work," their oldest daughter, Carolyn Holmes .

Cromwell Fire Department chosen for nationwide program aimed at risk reduction

CROMWELL - The Fire Department has been chosen to take part in a nationwide effort to increase fire prevention and engage in other risk-reduction efforts.
The department is one of 250 across the country that has been enlisted to take part in the program, which is sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association.
The department’s involvement in the program was announced by Acting Fire Chief Jason J. Brade.
“We are thrilled to be participating in this important project and are proud of Fire Inspector Harold Holmes for spearheading it for our department,” Brade said.
