In the weeks and days leading up to Richmond area students entering a new school year, several churches, businesses and other organizations stepped up to provide backpacks, clothing, shoes, lunchboxes and even cash in an effort to ensure that children have the basics for learning.

Four nonprofits turning Manchester warehouse into shared headquarters April 26, 2021 A warehouse at 100 Everett St. in Manchester will be renovated to pave the way for four area nonprofits to use the space as a shared headquarters. ( Jack Jacobs photo) A foursome of local nonprofits is shacking up in Manchester. The Boys and Girls Club, First Tee of Greater Richmond, Communities In Schools of Richmond, and Higher Achievement’s Richmond office are moving in together this summer into a shared 15,000-square-foot headquarters building at 100 Everett St. The old warehouse building will be redeveloped to serve as administrative offices (dubbed “neighborhoods”) for each organization, and will also feature shared training and meeting spaces in a bid to create more cost-efficient and collaborative operations.
