Huawei has unveiled a self-developed operating system called the HarmonyOS NEXT. At the development event, the CEO described the OS as fully independent with a full-stack AI framework. The CEO has also claimed that the Harmony kernel is three times more efficient than Linux.
Huawei will not support Android apps on its HarmonyOS Next platform, which will launch a developer version in Q2 and a commercial version in Q4. The company aims to bolster its own software ecosystem. Earlier versions of Harmony allowed Android apps, but this will no longer be possible. Huawei plans to exceed 700 billion yuan ($97.3 billion) in revenue in 2023, representing 9% YoY growth.
A few weeks after Tesla announced the expansion of its Shanghai factory, Huawei has released details on a new vehicle. The telecommunication giant claims the new entrant comes with specs that can beat the Model Y. Tesla is also facing stiff completion from a new Chinese car start-up Nio.
