Democrats are making it clear they will not provide the life raft for him. Let republicans deal with their own problems. I mean, let them wallow in their pig sty of incompetence. But the Big Question Hanging Over The Hill right now, if not mccarthy, then who . I want to bring in ali vitali on capitol hill. Also with us, Washington Post national reporter, carol lehning. Former aid to speakers paul ryan and john boehner and msnbc political analyst, brendan buck. Were also joined by former republican congressman from florida, carlos. Ali, ive been away from you for all of a minute so i know either someones walked by you or youre getting texts. Tell us where everything stands right now. Certainly both. As we went off the air with you, congressman chip roy walked by. I asked if he thought any of these other hard liners could have their minds changed. He said well see. The reporting we did just a few minutes ago says a lot of these folk who said their going to vote against mccarthy probably
Out the door. I think one of the key votes i would look for going up on the board early on is andy biggs. Andy biggs, not only has i think a reasonable mind, i think he can step back from this. He will also be very influential on others. As goes biggs, i think a number of them will also go. I really do. And for, you know, Matt Rosendale has to look people in the mirror and say you are criticizing the speaker for working with democrats but you are the one that will be voting with the democrats today. So john yeah, an interesting point to make. We wont have to wait long when the roll is called to find out how biggs voted, at least his name is not zimmerman. Might have to wait a long time if it were. Jason, good to see you. Thanks so much. Really appreciate it. Thank you. This hour, we continue cnns special live coverage of a historic vote on capitol hill. A moment, the House Of Representatives will hold a key vote on a motion to oust Kevin Mccarthy as speaker. A motion being brought by one of his fellow republicans. At the beginning of the day, we knew there were five republicans who would vote to oust him. Now, we know there are six. And were learning that mccarthys republican allies are attempting to make a lastminute plea to the 212 House Democrats there, to try to join them, to save him. But House Democrats appear to be united in not wanting to rescue mccarthy. Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries just sent what is known as a Dear Colleague letter to his fellow democrats. Saying its the responsibility of the gop to end their own House Republican civil war. Lets go right to capitol hill now where we find cnns manu raju and cnns melanie zanona.
