On the eve of Republic Day, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir announced Jammu and Kashmir Police medal for gallantry and J-K Police medal for meritorious service. The government has awarded Jammu and Kashmir Police medal for meritorious service to six police personnel, Rashmi Ranjan Swain, ADGP, CID; Satish Khandare, ADGP, UT of Ladakh; Harmeet Singh Mehta, SSP, Kishtwar; Rajni Sharma, Additional SP, Ramban; Ghulam Shah Rubbani, SI and Mushtaq Ahmad, SI. Further, recognizing the exemplary acts of bravery and courage beyond the call of normal duty in preventing crime and in nabbing dreaded criminals, the government has awarded J-K Police medal for gallantry to 169 police officers/officials.

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], January 22 (ANI): Terrorists lobbed a grenade at the security forces in the Dadpeth area of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. No injuries have been reported so far.
The attack took place when a police vehicle was on patrol from Kishtwar to Chatroo in the valley. A grenade was lobbed at a police vehicle in Dadpeth area of Kishtwar but it missed the target. No loss of life or injury has been reported so far, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Dr Harmeet Singh Mehta said.
The police also said that an FIR has been registered in the matter and the search operations for the culprits is underway.

JAMMU, Jan 18: Series of activities were held across Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to mark the beginning of National Road Safety Month.
The day witnessed inaugural functions, walkathons and awareness rallies organized by respective district administrations.
JAMMU: The 32nd National Road Safety Month was today inaugurated by Transport Commissioner, J&K Pardeep Kumar, with the flagging off a Walkathon-cum-Awareness Rally, here at Gulshan Ground.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Jammu, Shiv Kumar Sharma was the guest of honour on the occasion.
