NEW ULM New Ulm Area Catholic School (NUACS) students received a history lesson in Harman Park from members of the New Ulm Battery.
Students in kindergarten through seventh grade took a field trip to Harman Park Thursday and met with members of the New Ulm Battery. The students were able to learn about different aspects of history surrounding the battery.
Bryce Stenzel as Abraham Lincoln taught the kids about the history of the Civil War. Joe Hoffmann gave a detailed breakdown of the uniforms worn during the war. Bruce Olson talked about the history of the U.S. Dakota War that led to the creation of New Ulm Battery. John Fritsche told students about the New Ulm Battery and its history. The students even had a demonstration on how to work the battery’s cannon.
