Photos: Pixabay/Harlow Council Council tax is set to increase in Harlow to help stabilise council finances as it deals with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Harlow Council’s budget proposals for 2021/22 will see a 1.99 per cent council tax increase – an extra 10p a week for a band C home – in the council’s share of the council tax bill. Essex County Council is also planning to raise its share of the bill by 1.5 per cent or an extra £19.50 a year for a band D home.

Photos: Harlow Council Harlow has lost out on a bid for £10.4 million funding to improve Playhouse Square and Market Square – but is seeking alternative funding for the projects. The government has announced £830 million as part of its Future High Streets Fund to develop 72 areas across the country but Harlow has missed out an a share of the cash. The council has planned schemes to develop spaces for arts, culture and leisure opposite Harlow Playhouse, including homes for key works at affordable rents.
