Musical legend Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, who passed away due to age-related issues, was cremated with full state honours in the presence of his family, and members of the film and music industry in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon.
After a guard of honour in Juhu, Mumbai where Pt Shivkumar s mortal remains were kept for people to pay their respects, the funeral was held at Vile Parle s Pawan Hans Crematorium.
Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to Pandit ShivKumar Sharma, who began his journey in music as a tabla player when he was only five but soon found his calling in santoor, a stringed folk instrument from Jammu and Kashmir, and gave it global identity and classical pride.
