On Sunday afternoon, former Mayor Phil Hardberger was having lunch at the Pearl when a woman in her 50s whom he didn’t know stopped him and leaned in to shake his hand and say something very private.
“I’ve had a very tough time in my life,” the woman told Hardberger, referring to the pandemic, “and your park and that land bridge made the difference. It gave me something to hope for. It saved me.”
