I have made the very difficult decision to move Harbor Beach High School to virtual classes beginning Tuesday, Superintendent Shawn Bishop said. This is directly related to the number of COVID positive cases and related number of quarantines. Bishop has been an outspoken proponent for in-person learning, but recently told the Tribune that due to the continuing teacher and substitute teacher shortages, quarantine situations compound staffing challenges. On Friday, the district learned of multiple positive COVID cases, which resulted in the health department quarantining large groups of students.

The board will apply for funding to match the amount owed by students. Bishop later said the district will apply for the grant, but there is no guarantee it will be received.
