The National Film Awards 2022 were bestowed today by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a dazzling ceremony, held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. The prestigious awards, a celebration of excellence in Bangladeshi cinema, saw the attendance of prominent celebrities and artistes from across the country.
Recently, the trailer for Raihan Rafi’s “Damal” was released, much to the delight of cinema-goers who have been enjoying a steady stream of quality projects.
Throughout the 1990s, Bangla cinema managed to win over the audience, giving way to the culture of visiting theatres. However, in the last two decades, fewer people started to visit cinema halls, accompanied by a declining number of films releasing every year. With time, movie theatres also started closing down due to a lack of audiences.
The US premiere for “Golui” took place at the Jamaica Multiplex Cinemas in New York on Saturday. The premiere was attended by Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan, who is also the star of the film. Khan took a picture himself standing next to a cut-out of his character in “Golui”.
Shakib Khan and Puja Chery starrer “Golui” has received permission from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to continue screening in Jamalpur district.
