The Posen Community Schools school resource officer recently safely tracked down a runaway teen.
Officer Ryan Frost, a Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Office deputy, acting on tips from as far away as Texas, tracked down runaway Joe Horne, 16, of Posen, in the Saginaw area.
That happy ending on its own would be enough to make us smile.
But Frost, in announcing the successful case, offered an important message to any teens thinking about running away from home.
“Your life does matter,” Frost said. “Your voice is a powerful tool in receiving professional help and guidance.”
Frost is right. Help is always available, from police or from school or from church or from mental health professionals, and it’s important for teens to know they have safer options than running away.
