The Congress party in Telangana has finally announced A Revanth Reddy as the Chief Minister after delays caused by disagreements among the 64 victorious MLAs. Revanth Reddy is scheduled to take the oath on December 5. The initial arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony on December 4 were postponed due to conflicting opinions among senior leaders, with Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, and the Komatireddy brothers opposing the state party chief taking up the role of Chief Minister.
Hyderabad, Dec 4 (IANS) Out of 64 candidates of the Congress party who were elected in Telangana Assembly elections, at least 20 are those who had crossed over to the party from BRS and BJP during the last five months.
Reddy, who started out with the ABVP in student politics, began his career as an MLA with the TDP under Chandrababu Naidu and then shifted to the Congress. He is a sitting Congress MP for Malkajgiri constituency and has been an MLA thrice, twice from the TDP and once from the Congress. Reddy began his career by first being associated with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. In 2006, he was elected as ZPTC member from Midjil mandal but his political career got wings when the TDPs Naidu gave him a party ticket to contest from the Kodangal assembly seat in 2007 which he won three times in a row.
