West Burlington, Ia- The former city administrator for West Burlington will be returning to fill the position until a permanent replacement is found. The Hawk Eye reports that Gregg Mandsager, the city administrator from 2000 until 2005, was brought in by West Burlington Mayor Hans Trousil after the departure of city administrator Dan Gifford. Mandsager was the city administrator for Muscatine from 2009 until 2019 when he was fired while on medical leave. He has since filed a lawsuit against the city over the incident.

WEST BURLINGTON The West Burlington City Council will review how the city pays its employees over the next several months.
After a weeks-long debate about how much of a raise to give non-union employees, the city council will be heading back to the drawing board following its regular meeting Wednesday.
“We are going to have a work session to talk about employee pay,” West Burlington Mayor Hans Trousil said.
In the meantime, the council did approve 2.5% pay increases for each of the city’s 13 non-union employees. Of these employees, eight employees are salaried and four are hourly.
West Burlington, Ia- The ABB plant in West Burlington will begin worker layoffs earlier than originally planned. The Hawk Eye reports that ABB announced in a letter to West Burlington Mayor Hans Trousil that they will begin laying off workers on April 16th. The company announced in December that the plant in West Burlington would close in the summer, costing the community over 300 jobs. Iowa law requires a minimum 60-day notice to workers, families, and the community of impending closings and layoffs.
