Dancing Arts Center students compete in Youth America Grand Prix Finals COURTESY OF DANCING ARTS CENTER HOLLISTON Dancing Arts Center recently announced that two of its students are competing in the Youth America Grand Prix finals held at the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida from May 10-16. Youth America Grand Prix, the world’s largest global network of dance, each year hosts a season of regional semi-finals for top ballet and contemporary dance students in the U.S. and around the world, culminating in the YAGP finals.  Trevor PinterParsons, age 18, and Clementine “Coco” Perrott, age 12, both of Holliston, will attend master classes and perform classical and contemporary solos in their age divisions while competing in Tampa. PinterParsons is one of over 65 finalists in Senior Men’s Category and will be dancing the Act III Franz variation from Copèlia and “Emergence” for his classical and contemporary solos. Written by Emily Morrow on April 12, 2021 What brought you to hosting a show on WICN? Why do you love being on the air? I moved into Worcester proper in the summer of 2007. I had been listening to The Folk Revival on WICN on and off I love folk music and I was working on a book about folk music. I had known then-host Norah Dooley through The Revels in Boston, and I called her and asked if I could drop by the station some Thursday to see her in action. By late summer, I was a regular guest on her weekly Folk Revival show, bringing in CDs to share and talking about the music on the air with her. I had done some radio in college, but only sports radio. I had been a singer and performer, but I had never done music broadcasting.

Joining O’Donovan, the show’s creator and host, will be Newfoundland singer Matthew Byrne; Boston-based Irish fiddlers Nathan Gourley and Laura Feddersen; Scottish/Cape Breton-style fiddler Hanneke Cassel and Québécois guitarist Yann Falquet; local uilleann piper Joey Abarta; highly touted traditional Irish duo Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh; and sean-nos, or “old-style” Irish dancer
