A POLICE inspector has slammed a callous robber who preyed on elderly people for drug money. Det Insp Stewart Eastbrook said the ten year prison sentence for Carly Clough showed how serious her crimes were in Basildon. The 26-year-old of Town Square, Basildon carried out two robberies and four thefts, the most serious of which saw her hold a weapon to a 98-year-old woman s throat and scream for money. Det Insp Eastbrook said: “Clough callously targeted her elderly victims by claiming to need help, and then took advantage of their kindness to rob and steal from them. “She put her oldest victim through a terrifying ordeal, which could so easily have led to her being seriously hurt.
