The People s Court found Nguyen Nhat Cam, 57, guilty of committing the offence that caused a loss of 5.4 billion dong (US$233,000) to the government and sentenced him to 10 years in prison. Seven others involved in the scam received jail terms of between three and 6½ years, while two others were given 36-month suspended sentences.
