Three local Girl Scouts mastered power tools and wrestled with escalating lumber prices and fingers full of splinters to make a dream come true for community gardeners.
Over the past several weeks the ScoutsâHannah Sareault, Shea Rockwell and Emily Nobleâhave been designing and building two big raised beds for the Sandwich Roberti Farm Community Garden off Route 6A.
The beds, which are 4 feet high and 6 feet long, will enable older gardenersâand gardeners with disabilitiesâto plant flowers, herbs and veggies without having to kneel on the ground.
âWe were going to build three boxes, but then lumber decided to become really expensive,â Hannah said.
