On Wednesday evening, the University of Georgia Student Government Association announced the Belong and Bridge executive tickets will continue to a runoff election. Per the Elections Code, the two tickets with the largest proportion of the vote where neither receive an absolute majority move on to a runoff.
The election certification announcement, which was held through Zoom, was previously scheduled for 5 p.m. but was delayed until 5:50 p.m. due to a last minute Elections Committee hearing.
The voting period for the runoff begins on Feb. 25 at 8 a.m. and closes on Feb. 26 at noon. Certification of official runoff results will be announced at 5 p.m. the same day.

The changes that Bridge hopes to make include connecting the University of Georgia’s community with Athens-Clarke County’s, getting student voices more involved in SGA and connecting students with campus resources
As the University of Georgiaâs Student Government Association continues to campaign, the executive tickets met for a virtual debate Wednesday night where they discussed COVID-19, diversity and inclusion and mental health. There are three tickets for the upcoming election â Belong, Bridge and Voice. The Georgia Political Review moderated the debate.
Platform for a pandemic
All three tickets had detailed opinions about the transition from mostly online classes to in-person as the distribution of campus vaccines widen, as well as the acclimation of freshman and transfer students during COVID-19.
The Bridge ticket, comprised of Jeremiah de Sesto, Hannah-Rose Basson and Oba Samaye, wants the colleges within UGA to have a uniform response to the transition to in-person classes. They also want EITS to provide chargers and technology for longer periods of time.
