USA TODAY American Idol auditions are on a roll, and this week brought a slew of new talent to the competition.
During Sunday night s episode, one auditioner made an impression not only with her voice but also with her striking resemblance to Idol judge Katy Perry. Oh my gosh, I get it all the time, Hannah Everhart, 17, said before her audition. Every time I go get my hair done, Wow, she looks like Katy Perry. Maybe it s the eyeballs, cause we both got blue ones and they re big. I never exactly saw little ol me getting to do something like this, you know?
This is getting exciting,
Idol friends. It s only our second audition outing, but already it looks like there are some real contenders for the season 19 crown. Honestly, if a few of the contestants below don t make it into the Top 10, what are we even doing here? Unfortunately, with so many golden tickets being handed out, there have to be some rejections handed out as well. In this round of auditions, the judges meet Ace Stiles, a 16-year-old who came out as transgender two years prior. His voice is intimate and stylized, and the judges think he needs a little more time to develop his talent. He is so close it s heartbreaking! Thankfully, there are some big wins for contestants betting it all on
We also saw an incredibly hip and current brother/sister duo tackling an original song they wrote together that’s ready to be on the radio today. But it wasn’t all sunshine and roses as the judges made some questionable calls along the way, too.
First, an absolutely disappointing vocalist somehow eked through the judges, despite offering up no reason for that to happen, while a unique artist who performed their own song with a cool and quirky song was sent home in tears. That’s the one you support, the one with potential to connect … not the goober dancing around who has nothing fresh to offer.
