YOUNGSTOWN Ohio State University student Hannah Emerson of Lordstown says the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more difficult to carry out the volunteering work she began as a child, but she recently found a way to help a nursing home resident.
Emerson, 21, a criminology major, saw postings in mid-December on the social media site Craigslist from a man named Steve, a paralyzed resident of a Youngstown nursing home asking for someone to help him eat better.
Steve’s complaints were about “poor quality, tiny portions of food they serve here. I’ve tried for three or four years to get better quality food,” he told Emerson.
