Wightlink Confirms Suspension Of FastCat From Thursday

Wightlink has confirmed the suspension of its FastCat service from Thursday.
A Tier 4 ‘stay at home’ lockdown now applies in Portsmouth, as well as in London and much of the South East, to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Wightlink Urging Customers To Undertake Essential Travel Only

Cross Solent operator, Wightlink, has confirmed that it is urging passengers to respect the new coronavirus restrictions and to undertake essential travel only to and from the Isle of Wight.
It comes as Portsmouth, Gosport, and Havant - all neighbouring the Island - have been placed in Tier 4, under new, stricter, coronavirus restrictions.
A statement sent to customers by Wightlink said: From 00:01 on Sunday 20 December 2020, the Government has imposed a Tier 4 ‘stay at home’ lockdown in Portsmouth, as well as in London and much of the South East of England, to stop the spread of coronavirus. This restriction applies over the Christmas period.
THE Leader of Bradford Council has called for more financial support to be provided to businesses in the district following the announcement keeping Bradford in Tier 3 restrictions over Christmas. Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe said the decision by Government was finely balanced but now further financial support must be provided to businesses who are missing out on vital seasonal income they would usually rely on over Christmas. Cllr Hinchcliffe has also urged people to take care over Christmas to avoid a surge in cases and any more needless deaths from Covid-19. She said: “We had put in a submission last week to go into Tier 2 given that our infection rates are much reduced from what they were.
