In-woo (played by Lee Byung-hun) is a big dumb lovable oaf. "Bungee Jumping of their Own" starts off pretty straightforwardly as a nostalgic representation of his big college romance in 1983 with Tae-hee (played Lee Eun-joo) who, like In-woo, is shy and a little silly. Flash forward to the present day, 2000 because this is an older movie, and In-woo now has a wife played by Jeon Mi-sun. Considering the fact that the female demographic was quite significant among cinema goers during the 60s, it is no surprise that a number of films of this era feature female protagonists. The hilariously titled "My Sister Is a Hussy" (aka "My Sister is a Tomboy") is a bit strange regarding the messages it communicates, since it does not become clear if it is for women independence or against it. The literal Korean title of "The Scam" more accurately translates as operation, or strategy. The distinction in nuance is a critical one, as "The Scam" is a very detached film largely lacking a clear moral compass. Which is especially weird, as the movie directly deals with ethically fraught social problems. The way leading man Hyeon-soo (played by Park Yong-ha) just sort of flippantly ponders killing himself before going nah, I ll just try to cook up a stock market scheme instead, has aged particularly darkly in the wake of Park Yong-ha s real life suicide a year after the movie s release, The Scam, Jo Duk-hyun, Kim Joon-sung, Kim Min-jung, Kim Mu-yeol, Lee Ho-jae-I, Park Hee-soon, Park Yong-ha
The marketing for "Recalled" has greatly played up a seemingly important part of the premise, that leading lady Soo-jin (played by Seo Ye-ji) is apparently having visions of the future following an accident that rendered her an amnesiac. The Korean title even goes so far as to render this literally by going by the moniker tomorrow s memories. Well, I don t think it s much of a spoiler to say that s not what s actually happening.
