The game will continue the decades-old Cresta shoot em up series. The first title in the franchise came out all the way back in 1980 and has spawned multiple sequels over the years. You can play two of those,
Sol Cresta. It’s a sequel to the 1985 arcade game

Sol Cresta on April 1, 2020, a reveal that was widely presumed to be an April Fools’ Day goof. But
Sol Cresta is apparently real, and being developed in collaboration with Hamster Corp. maker of the Arcade Archives brand of retro games which owns the rights to the Cresta series.

PlatinumGames has been teasing several announcements since last year on their website, with four of them already revealed. One of the remaining uncovered announcements, however, has been changed to 2021. This update corresponds to a recent interview from Hideki Kamiya, in which he revealed that we’ll hear more about the game’s development later this year. Said update was given during the recent Arcade Archives streams, in which he briefly delved into his current projects.
