A warning has been issued after reports of someone trying car doors in the early hours of the morning in Hammerwich.
Police say a report was received about the incident on Burntwood Road at around 1.15am this morning (19th February).
PCSO Davina Hickman said:
“This is a timely reminder to check that vehicles and property are secure and not to leave any valuables on display.”

Council tax bills for people living in Lichfield and Burntwood will rise by an average of more than 4.7%, a report has revealed.
Members of Lichfield District Council will hear the report highlighting the overall figure at a meeting this evening (16th February).
The council tax bill is made up of amounts given to different authorities, including councils, police and fire services – each of which decides how much to set the figure at each year.
The report comes as the local authority is planning to increase its share of the bill for a Band D property by 2.78% – taking the average rise for householders to 4.71%.

Any developments which could impact on the future use of a former railway line in Lichfield will not be permitted under proposals due to be debated by councillors.

The draft Local Plan 2040 document will be discussed by Lichfield District Council’s cabinet next week.
The document outlines the vision for the future of the area over the next 20 years, providing guidance on the way land is utilised going forward.
Among the items included are measures to protect the former Lichfield to Walsall railway line – despite the last passenger services running on the route more than half a century ago.

Fourteen good causes have signed up to be a part of Lichfield Community Lottery.
The new initiative will see organisations set up their own lottery pages and receive 50p from every £1 spent by players.
The 14 voluntary organisations that have already signed up to be a part of the community lottery include:

Hayley Baxter, chief executive officer for Pathway Project, said:
“We are always looking for ways to raise vital funds to help support local people who are experiencing or are affected by domestic abuse.
“The coronavirus pandemic has made it really hard for charities to fundraise, and so Lichfield Community Lottery is a great new avenue to seek more support from our caring community.”

More than 9,700 new homes will need to be built across Lichfield and Burntwood over the next 20 years, councillors have been told.
A report to an overview and scrutiny committee meeting at Lichfield District Council this week saw Cllr Iain Eadie outline the scale of the housing need for the region.
The cabinet member responsible for the Local Plan said part of the total figure was down to neighbouring local authorities failing to meet their own housing needs.
