A State of Emergency has been introduced in South Kordofan following clashes between Dar Ali, Kenana, and Logan in the Shabakah area of ​​Gedir locality which killed at least five people and wounded several others.

The Kadugli-Delling road was closed for several hours. Native Administration leader Amir Mousa El Zubeir told Radio Dabanga that a group of unidentified gunmen killed the cattle owner and hid his body in a forest near El Koweik, located 25 km north of Kadugli on Friday afternoon. They then took his cows to an unknown destination. El Zubeir added that residents of El Kuweik blocked the road between Kadugli and Delling for hours, in protest of ongoing insecurity in the area.

April 29 - 2021 GEDIR / KEDBER / DIBEBAD (file photo) Dozens of people were killed or injured during tribal clashes that lasted for five consecutive days in the El Hamid district of Gedir, South Kordofan. Other violent events took place in the state as well. Neel Hussein, the mayor of Abu Jubeiha, told Radio Dabanga that armed confrontations between the rivalling parties continued yesterday morning. He confirmed that the clashes caused a “large number” of deaths and injuries, although the exact figures are not yet known due to continuing confrontations. The mayor further confirmed that a third party entered the conflict and that military reinforcements have arrived to contain the situation.
