Matthew Tomkinson has officially joined The Hambrough team, based in Ventnor. He comes with 14 years’ experience working in Michelin-starred restaurants, having won the coveted accolade twice. The Hambrough Group said Matthew will elevate its existing reputation as one of the key destinations on the Island’s culinary map. The appointment, which coincided with the re-opening of the hospitality sector, means The Hambrough is anticipating an exceptionally busy summer with their new chef at the helm. He brings with him a wealth of experience. After gaining a degree in hospitality management at Birmingham City University, he realised his real passion was in the kitchen.
The former day and health centres on Church Street, Ventnor. (Picture: Google Maps) PLANS to use a former health and day care centre in Ventnor to extend a popular hotel have been submitted. Called a good opportunity in planning documents, The Hambrough Group are asking for planning permission to add to its accommodation offer by turning the former Church View Day Centre and the NHS health centre, on Church Street, into more rooms for guests. The main Hambrough Hotel, on Hambrough Road, is connected to the Church Street building by a private road, as it stands behind the hotel. The private road would also provide space for car parking spaces.
