ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani on Friday condemned the Israeli atrocities against innocent and unarmed Palestinians, and said resolution of the Palestine issue was indispensable for lasting peace in the region.
The series of attacks by occupation forces on innocent people, illegal settlement of the Israelis, and forced evictions of Palestinians from their homes were serious violations of human rights and international law, he said during a meeting with the Palestine ambassador.
The Senate chairman along with Deputy Chairman Mirza Muhammad Afridi, Leader of Upper House Dr Shahzad Waseem, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s chief whip Fida Muhammad and other senators visited the Palestinian Embassy and met the Palestinian envoy to express solidarity with the Palestinians.

Polling continued until after 5pm in the KP Assembly, where the ECP allowed lawmakers already inside the legislature to cast their votes. Polling did not take place on Wednesday in Punjab where all Senate candidates were elected unopposed last month after disqualification or withdrawal of papers by other contestants.

Hours before polling commenced, the contest became even more controversial with the emergence of a video of Gilani s son, Ali Haider, explaining to certain lawmakers how to cancel their votes.
