パピーウオーカーは、家庭や街中で盲導犬に必要な社会性を身に付けさせる重要な役割があり、週末は受刑者の代わりにパピーを世話し、街中に連れ出したり乗り物に乗せたりする。受刑者と顔は合わせないが、飼育日誌を介してパピーの様子を伝え合う。
第12期のパピーウオーカーの修了式が6月27日にあり、広島市の3家族と浜田市の1家族が8カ月間、週末を共にしたラブラドルレトリバー4頭との別れを惜しみながら同協会に返した。
パピーウオーカーの応募条件は、毎週月曜の午前中と金曜の午後に、同訓練センター▽広島事務所（広島市安佐北区可部南5）▽山陽自動車道・西風新都IC周辺のいずれかまでパピーの送迎ができる人。犬を飼育している人、一人暮らしの人は不可。締め切りは9月中旬。問い合わせ先は同訓練センタ
