Democrats tried unsuccessfully today (Thurs) to strike a measure requiring abortion clinics in Minnesota be licensed, as the state Senate debated Republicans’ major health-and-human-services funding bill. Ham Lake Republican Michelle Benson says that measure assures…
…”that abortion facilities in Minnesota are safe and licensed.”
But Wayzata Democrat Ann Johnson Stewart says because the bill puts no additional regulations on over a thousand other clinics providing comparable medical services other than abortion…
…”It is clear that it only serves to make it more difficult for Minnesotans to obtain abortion care.”

The same insurance coverage and access to “telehealth” services as for in-person medical appointments that’s the goal of a bill the Minnesota Senate unanimously passed Tuesday. It also funds a study to keep an eye on potential problem areas:
“Will some communities be saying, well, we can do more by telehealth, so we’re not gonna invest in a brick-and-mortar clinic?”
