Hexham Courant. A YOUNG female motorist has been banned from the roads after admitting drink driving. At South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Charlotte Olivia Huntsman (22), of Tyneview Close, Haydon Bridge, pleaded guilty to driving with excessive alcohol. On February 6 this year, Huntsman was driving on the A69 at Corbridge with 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg. She also admitted driving without a relevant licence and driving without insurance. Huntsman was banned from driving for 16 months and fined £161 for drink driving. She was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.
The scales of justice A 46-YEAR-OLD man from Hexham has been left with life changing injuries after being assaulted in the town centre. At Newcastle Crown Court on February 24, Ian Short (39), of Hallow Drive, Throckley, was sentenced to 22 months in prison, suspended for two years, for attacking the man on December 21, 2019 outside Mr Ants Bar on Priestpopple. Short had initially denied a charge of assault but changed his plea to guilty at a hearing in December. In addition to the suspended sentence, Short was ordered to pay the victim £3,000 in compensation and a victim surcharge of £149.
