Montgomery County will be hosting a virtual series called Healing and Holding On – One Conversation at a Time for the Community, in honor of mental health awareness month which starts May 1. The series will feature mental health experts and community partners that will speak openly on mental health and wellness issues. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, studies have shown an increase in conditions such as depressive disorder, anxiety, and chronic stress.  A KFF Health Tracking Poll from July 2020 found that many adults are reporting negative impacts on their mental health and well-being. Some of the conditions reported are difficulty sleeping (36%), trouble eating (32%), increases in alcohol consumption or substance use (12%), and worsening chronic conditions (12%), all due to worry and stress over the COVID-19 pandemic.
