Deputy minister of local government, Halima Daudi has said most roads in the country’s major cities are in bad shape, the development she said is worrisome as it is compromising the country’s city’s standards.

Daud said apart from the country’s cities having roads which are in bad shape , they are also few a development which she said has resulted in most major cities in the country experiencing traffic congestion challenges.
Speaking when she launched upgrading works for 1.5km Stella Maris-Chilobwe by-pass road in Blantyre on Friday ,the Deputy Minister also warned contractors in the country against doing shady works saying they are responsible for most roads in the country’s cities having a short life span.
Ministry of Local Government has urged chiefs in the country to enhance dissemination of Coronavirus messages to their subjects in order to contain the pandemic.

Deputy Minister of Local Government, Halima Daudi, made the call Thursday when she graced installation of Sub Traditional Authority Chiputula after attaining part of Makhuwira area in the district.
She said: “When you get back to your homes, please promote awareness on Covid-19, the issues to do with regular hand washing with soap, maintaining social distance as well as wearing of face masks. Our people need to know these things.”

Member of Parliament for Thyolo Thava, Mary Thom Navicha has reminded the MCP led government through Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Halima Daudi who was the Guest of Honour at the elevation of three Chiefs that Malawians are anxiously waiting for the implementation of the policies that President Lazarus Chakwera promised during campaign.
Navicha was speaking in Thyolo on Wednesday, February 9, at the elevation of Traditional Authority (T/A) Khwethemule to Senior Chief who comes from her Constituency, T/A Nsabwe to Senior Chief and Sub/TA Thukuta to full T/A. The other two chiefs come from Thyolo South whose Member of Parliament is Mabvuto Scott who also graced the occasion.
Deputy Minister of Local Government, Halima Daudi, has urged chiefs to promote unity among Malawians if the country is to develop.
Daudi made the remarks during the elevation of Traditional Authority (T/A) Khwethemule and T/A Nsabwe to Senior Chiefs and Sub T/A Thukuta to T/A.
Daudi said chiefs should refrain from corrupt tendencies.
She also urged them to ensure that people are following Covid-19 preventive measures to avoid further spread of the pandemic.
Senior Chief Khwethemule thanked President Lazarus Chakwera for elevating them and promised to work with government.
Member of Parliament for Thyolo Thava, Mary Thom Navicha, thanked government for considering the chiefs of Thyolo, adding it is a sign that the Tonse-led government is not selective.
