Shortlist for control of $500m aged care empire revealed

Stockland operates 60 retirement villages with more than 10,000 residents, including two on the Sunshine Coast - Bellcarra and Shine. The $65.9 million deal also included the purchase of Big 4 Townsville Woodlands Holiday Park in North Queensland.

Halcyon is looking for investors to buy a majority stake in the company - or the entire business - in a bid to raise capital to expand interstate. Three of its nine Queensland lifestyle villages are on the Sunshine Coast including B by Halcyon at Buderim, Halcyon Landing at Bli Bli and Halcyon Parks at Caloundra. Parks was Halcyon s first facility and opened in 2004 at the 18 hectare site. The development has 171 homes. It is understood the company engaged adviser Rothschild to begin the search for investors around March and bids started to come in last week.
