STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The NYPD posted on social media a photo of an “incendiary device” and an axe allegedly used by a man in a bizarre incident outside a deli in Mariners Harbor.
“Excellent work today by Officers Daley and Ingrassia! They arrested an individual who was prepared to cause harm and destruction with a homemade incendiary device!” said a post on the 121st Precinct Twitter feed.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A man tried to set a parked car on fire and when that didn’t work, he hit it with an axe in a bizarre episode that unfolded Tuesday morning outside a Mariners Harbor deli, police said.
The incident was reported around 8:15 a.m. in front of Halal Deli & Grill at 281 South Ave., according to a spokeswoman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
