The 52-nation international tournament is the first major competition under the new AIBA president Umar Kremlev, who was elected leader of the embattled federation in December 2020. Additionally, Hungarian Olympic champion István Kovács recently stepped in as secretary general on March 22, as AIBA tries to stabilize its governance under close watch by the IOC, which suspended the federation in May 2019.

Wojcik appointed as ambassador for AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships

Monday, 12 April 2021 Poland’s Elzbieta Wojcik has been appointed as an ambassador of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Youth World Boxing Championships. The 25-year-old previously enjoyed success at AIBA youth level competitions. She earned a silver medal at the AIBA Youth World Championships in 2013, where she was beaten by London 2012 Olympic champion Claressa Shields in the 75 kilogram middleweight, before winning gold the following year in Bulgaria’s capital city Sofia. Wojcik was also crowned Youth Olympic Games champion in the same year, overcoming Australia’s Caitlin Parker and Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien Chin in the latter stages of competition at Nanjing 2014.

AIBA visit Poland ahead of Youth World Boxing Championships in April Wednesday, 10 March 2021 A delegation from the International Boxing Association (AIBA) has visited Kielce in Poland to inspect the venue, hotels and logistical organisation for the upcoming Youth World Boxing Championships. Scheduled to be held in Kelce from April 10 to 24, the Organising Committee has been working on implementing COVID-19 safety measures for months to ensure the tournament can go ahead with minimal risk. The advancement of organisation work will allow the AIBA Youth Men s and Women s World Boxing Championships in Kielce to be held at a high level, said Organising Committee managing director Roman Slagiowski.

AIBA Youth Men s and Women s World Championships set to go ahead in April

Tuesday, 26 January 2021 International Boxing Association (AIBA) President Umar Kremlev has backed Poland to safely stage the delayed Youth Men’s and Women’s World Championships in April. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in the Polish city of Kielce last November before being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is now set to be held at the Hala Legionow Sports Complex from April 10 to 24. Kremlev travelled to Poland to meet with Polish Boxing Association Profession Grzegorz Nowaczek to discuss preparations for the event. It is understandable that the global pandemic situation is of concern for everybody, but the Local Organising Committee will have a full support of the Polish Government and Sports Ministry, which will allow the entrance of the participants without any restrictions, said Kremlev.
