The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has been accused of sharing N46million largesse extorted from the 2022 Hajj pilgrims. SaharaReporters had in July reported that some Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia accused top officials of the Lagos State Government of forcing them to pay a higher amount for animal sacrifices called Hadaya. The pilgrims were expected to pay for an animal sacrifice.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, has assured intending pilgrims from the state that the $ 800 Travel Allowance (BTA) promised them during the one-day seminar.

CHICAGO A 26-year-old Chicago man conspired with U.S. Postal Service carriers to intercept government stimulus checks to convert them into cash, federal prosecutors say.
An indictment returned this week charges Akeem Kosoko with one count of conspiring to steal mail and government funds; three counts of embezzlement of government property and three counts of receiving stolen mail, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago announced Tuesday. Stolen stimulus funds, according to the feds.
