New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Wa Central Constituency in the Upper West Region, are demanding the removal of the Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Sali, for not supporting the party’s parliamentary candidate for the area, leading to the loss of that seat in just ended elections.
Scores of party supporters stormed the Minister’s official residence on Friday morning, demanding his removal from office.
According to them, the NPP candidate, Hajia Humu Awudu, did not get the needed support from the Minister and the constituency chairman, Ali Kamara leading to the party’s defeat.

The 2020 presidential and parliamentary election will go down in history as the election that presented a unique test to Ghana s democratic credentials. The outcome of election 2020, most especially the Parliamentary elections in the Upper West Region is not surprising as many including my outfit have predicted the NPP can only win three seats. There was a general disconnect with party structure; internal rankling, and unfulfilled promises.
Nonetheless, the Wa central Parliamentary race appears to be very keenly and a lot of people had developed much interest. Largely because of Hon. Hajia Humu Awudu has rejuvenated the political atmosphere and had schooled our sleep watching MP (Hon. Alhaji Rashid Pelpuo PhD) on the real responsibility of what an MP does.

Member of Parliament(MP) for Wa Central Hon. Dr. Rashid Pelpuo has said that the contest he went for in the Wa Central Parliamentary race was a contest between the absurdity of vote-buying and quality leadership.
In the past seven elections, Wa Central has voted for the NDC parliamentary candidates, including incumbent Dr. Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, a 56-year-old development consultant, who has served the constituency for 16 years as a legislator.
However, in the just-ended election, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo was fiercely contested by Hajia Humu Awudu, a 36-year-old businesswoman who from her campaign had the needed resources to cause an upset.
