BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, April 30 (BOrneo Bulletin/ANN): A 38-year-old female security guard was sentenced to 16 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for the theft of a vehicle.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Sabrina binti Haji Mahmud informed the court that the defendant Noormarlianti binti Haji Omar was with two friends in the vicinity of Bangunan GP Satu, Jalan Gadong at 6.10pm on April 20, when she saw the vehicle parked behind the building.
The defendant inspected the vehicle’s bonnet to see whether there was a battery underneath, and found none. She contacted a tow truck driver who arrived at 6.53pm.

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) took another step towards international recognition for one of its Master’s degree programmes recently.
In a statement issued yesterday, UTB announced that under its School of Computing and Informatics (SCI), the Master programme for Computing and Information System (By Coursework) is now partially accredited by the BCS as partial Chartered IT Professional (CITP) and partial Chartered Engineer (CEng) (Further Learning). It means that upon graduation, students undertaking the course will have fulfilled part of the academic requirements to be registered as a CITPand as a CEng.
The BCS is the Chartered Institute for Information Technology, a professional body that represents those working in information technology and computer science, both in the United Kingdom (UK) and internationally.
