April 28, 2021 Azlan Othman A total of 213 officers and staff of the Ministry of Development (MoD) and its departments who retired in 2019 were celebrated during a certificate of appreciation presentation at the ministry’s Betabur Hall yesterday. Acting Director of Administration and Finance Haji Mohammad Kassim bin Haji Ya’akub said after serving some 30 years with the government, “I am convinced that the retirees have their lives ahead planned out with activities that they could not do when they were busy with their duties”. He added, “Reaching retirement does not mean the end of service to the government, but they can play their role in contributing to the society by engaging in social activities, businesses or knowledge-sharing.”

April 13, 2021 Izah Azahari The Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) and the Ministry of Development (MoD) will support the Manpower Industry Steering Committee (MISC) in Construction in continuing to host schemes such as the ARMECS Bridging Programme 1.0, so that locals can find employment in the construction industry, where there are vast opportunities for nation-building. This was said by Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar during a presentation of certificates of achievement to 31 trainees who completed six months of training at architect and professional engineer firms, under the ARMECS Bridging Programme 1.0 yesterday. The certificate presentation was held at the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) building.

The project, featuring a painted mural on the side of a building next to the old Borneo Cinema, was officially inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong and Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar on Sunday.
