The U.S. government announced that it charged Mario Antonio Palacios, a 43-year-old former Colombian soldier who is one of the main suspects in the July killing of Haitian president Jovenel Moïse.
Mario Palacios Palacios, known as “Floro,” is charged with conspiracy to commit murder or kidnapping outside the United States and with providing material support resulting in death, knowing or intending that such material support would be used to prepare for or carry out the conspiracy to kill or kidnap. The former Colombian soldier is the first person allegedly involved in the assassination of the Haitian president to be formally charged with a crime.
