Chakwera graces The Asian Aspiration book launch in Lilongwe – Face of Malawi

President Lazarus Chakwera, Vice President Saulos Chilima and former president Joyce Banda are attending the launch of a book called “The Asian Aspiration” in Lilongwe. Among the four authors of the book is former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo and former Ethiopia prime minister, Hailemarian Desalegn. Obasanjo is in the country attending the event. Speaking at the launch, Obasanjo said “there is nothing Asians have done that we [Africans] could not do” in terms of development. He said what they did was to set their priorities right and pursue them continuously, which Africans also need to do. The former Nigeria leader has further pointed out that Africa must set priorities right, supported by both strong leadership and strong institutions.
