LAHORE: Disgruntled PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was sworn in as a member of the Punjab Assembly here on Wednesday, two years and 10 months after winning the PP-10 seat from Rawalpindi in the 2018 general elections.
Mr Khan entered the House through the lobby reserved for the treasury members, took a seat reserved for ministers, took the oath administered by Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari and left quietly through the lobby reserved for the opposition without delivering a statement that each member usually makes after taking the oath, despite the chair offering him the floor.
There was no clapping or thumping of the desks to welcome Nisar’s oath-taking, while three treasury lawmakers two of them ministers and PPP’s Ali Haider Gilani greeted and shook hands with him.

ISLAMABAD: The ECP Monday issued notices to PTI’s MNAs Faheem Khan and Jamil Ahmed, who were seen in the video of Ali Haider Gilani, a day ahead of the Senate elections.
In this connection, a three-member bench of the Commission, headed by Punjab member Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi, heard the disqualification case against Yousaf Raza Gilani in the Election Commission Secretariat, filed by PTI lawmakers.
Senator Yousaf Raza Gilani submitted the reply to the Election Commission while the Election Commission sent copies of the same to PTI petitioners. On his part, Gilani has sought dismissal of the disqualification petitions and in reply he said the allegations levelled by the PTI were frivolous.
