For the seventh year in a row, South Hadley’s Kyle Belanger finds himself patrolling Radio Row at the Super Bowl this week.
It’s a much more intimate gathering this time around.
What Belanger normally sees at the Super Bowl consists of the hustle and bustle of a week-long sports takeover. This year’s event in Tampa Bay is not the typical fare however. Instead of hundreds of tables occupying the convention center assigned for media entities, Belanger said he counted 42 tables encompassing a whole room when he arrived in Florida on Monday.

■Frigid temperatures of the past few days have given local thermometers a rare exercise in recording Arctic weather. A reading of 29 below zero was recorded on a Hatfield home, while a balmy 19 below was registered at an Easthampton window.
■Charles J. Paquette, who was appointed to the City License Commission last year, has resigned after doubt was raised about the legality of his appointment. The problem was that the license board has to be divided on a political basis, and Paquette was named by Mayor Dunphy as the Republican representative to the board. Paquette had been a Democrat but switched to Republican earlier last year.
