The aquarium is still repairing damages from Hurricane Zeta. The river exhibit is their newest construction.
This habitat will feature new animals not yet featured at the aquarium. The mystery residents will not be revealed until the exhibit officially opens.
The work-in-progress has attracted the attention of some on Facebook who are curious as to what the new animals will be. Manager of Interpretation for Mississippi Aquarium Hadiya White said, “We are taking guesses on our social sites for what you think those animals might be. So right behind us we are going to be expanding this sort of river system. So, you guys have an opportunity to come back and visit us and follow us on social media to find out what those animals are going to be.”

The Windy City’s breezes blew Chicago’s Hadiya White across Lake Michigan east to Lansing where she attended MSU and found her future. She ditched skylines for seascapes after graduating in 1999.
“I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife management in the Fisheries and Wildlife program,” said White while we walked through her current workplace at the creative, expansive new Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport. “The aquarium is across the street from the beach so we talk about the ecosystems with visitors and then they get to go out and explore them.”
