Colombia’s former President Alvaro Uribe lost his wits on Thursday over American pressure to investigate alleged state crimes and terrorism to quell anti-government protests, and for a good reason.
In a flurry of video messages, Uribe denied the security forces were involved in the killing and forced disappearance of hundreds of citizens during anti-government protests of the past few weeks.
The former president said these allegation were invented by allies of created demobilized guerrilla group FARC and active “extremist groups.”
The old parallel diplomacy of the FARC and the extremist groups with which it coincides has created abroad the false image that here in this great democracy there is official violence.
Military intelligence spied on protest organizers in Colombia, US and Europe

Colombia’s military illegally spied on organizers of Wednesday’s protests against far-right President Ivan Duque, leaked military intelligence documents indicate.
The 36-page intelligence report was leaked to investigative journalism collective Hacker Fiscalia, according to exiled former prosecution investigator Richard Maok, who leads the collective.
The alleged military intelligence documents identified 28 organizations that would be organizing 233 protests in opposition of Duque’s controversial tax reform proposals on Wednesday.
National Army divisions were apparently informed about the protests preparations and the involved organizations within their jurisdiction.
