The Philippine National Police (PNP) maintained on Monday, June 13, that the arrest of 91 farmers and their supporters in Concepcion, Tarlac was “lawful” as they allegedly destroyed crops and became unruly when they conducted their protest.

In a press conference on Monday, DAR Secretary Bernie Cruz said that instead of helping the farmers, the groups may even affect the distribution process of lands that the department is currently expediting. On Thursday, 93 individuals, including farmers, advocates, and students, were arrested at Hacienda Tinang in Concepcion, Tarlac. They have been freed after posting bail. The police report said they were equipped with rotovator, demolished the sugarcane plantation owned by Agriculture Cooperative, and when responding personnel tried to pacify them, became unruly and tried to stop the law enforcers from performing their official duties.
