1. President Muhammadu Buhari, Tuesday, finally sacked the service chiefs with immediate effect.
Buhari has appointed new Service Chiefs: Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff.
2. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to the resignation of Service Chiefs, stressing that the senior security officers listened to the party’s voice.
PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said the Service Chiefs outlived their usefulness, hence their exit.
3. The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the former Nigeria Service Chiefs had remarkable achievements while in office.

The Niger State Police Command in connection with vigilantes in Bosso Local Government Area have arrested four suspects for allegedly vandalizing 40 railway tracks in the state.
The suspects were caught in two Hijet pickup vans loaded with the items along Maikunkele-Zheko road on 9th of January, 2021.
Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Wasiu Abiodun, said the Police/vigilante operatives attached to the area on patrol arrested four suspects
According to him, “the suspects were arrested with 41 pieces of vandalized rail tracks loaded in two Hijet pickup vans with Reg. No. XG 668 AA and RSH 742 XB.”
Idris, who identified the culprits as Abdurrauf Kabir 25, Dabo Yusuf 26, Abdurrazak Isah 24, Habu Umar 27, Yaron Nuhu-Maikaji 30, and Abdurrashid Shehu 31, said they were using a primary school building in the area to commit the act.
He said the culprits were in the habit of organizing disco parties, locally called Gwaidu, during which they lured young girls into illicit sexual relationships, while at times they used force to intimidate innocent people.
Idris said the attention of his department was drawn by the local Hisbah office in the area, after which the office swung into action and arrested all those involved.
After discreet investigations, the commissioner said, the state Hisbah office summoned the parents of the culprits, counselled them both and made them to signed an undertaking against repeating the offence.
